My art is an expression of the beauty and complexity i see in the world and within me. for me, creating is like breathing. i need it to live. i paint, draw and make sculpture whenever i can. when i paint i love to use live colors and thick texture to express
emotion and movement.
I grew up in rogersville, missouri, and now i've lived
near old, guatemala for over 15 years.

Sergio ajú is a guatemalan textile artist and designer whose creative sensitivity is nurtured by his interest in art, poetry, music and painting. about a year ago he began his exploration in the tufting world, finding in this technique a new form of expression through wool, color, texture and composition.
Since then, it has continuously developed and perfected its technique, exploring the possibilities of contemporary textile art and the creation of carpets as artistic and design pieces.
Currently, sergio ajú also develops a formative facet through tufting workshops, bringing others closer to this artistic language and allowing them to experiment in a practical way with the creation of original pieces, where texture and matter become fundamental elements of the work.
His experience as an adviser on wool products complements his artistic practice, providing specialized knowledge of materials, fibres and possibilities of application within the textile design.
